Hello,
I bought a Fjord Cruiser 27 with 2x Volvo BB115 year 1974.
And I have some troubles.
First I have a proppeler more bigger than the second. Left was smaller than 2 cm from the right. change by another user.
So the right engine was more hot than left, and the RPM was not the same.
Left : 4000RPM and Right 3500RPM at max.
I don't know the speed exactly, but I tried to see with GPS. At 2200RPM my speed was 10Km/h.
I tried to puch out under water the boat, but it's not possible, I have a big wave from rear and I don't have more power to have more speed.
Maybe I have engine too old.
When I do a little trip, I have a white smoke from exhaust but it smell nothing.
Yesterday, I did a speed test, not a long time because my right engine go up for temp, and I had a big white smoke from exhaust and smell Oil.
I don't know which engine, because I have 1 exhaust at rear of boat.
Today my engines had 1138 Hours, it's good or not?
Maybe you can help me about my problems, because I don't find any informations on the web.
If someone say the good proppeler, please say me, I will change it.
And if you say, I would like to change engine by another, Diesel, maybe you know the good reference to change them, without a lot of modification.

Hi,
The white smoke is water that is heated up to boiling point what engine temperature do you have? Have you checked the raw water impeller pump?
A possibility is that you have a leakage in the exhaust manifold, or the cylinder head. Is there water in the oil?
The propellers are a little bit more tricky, I have to come back on this.
It would be good to know your reduction reverse gear ratio and top speed and rpm to be able to calculate the propeller.

The old user, has changed manifold, twice engines.
For the white smoke, I smell oil after a big run and I had a lot of white smoke.
About Gear ratio I will check the number on the reduction, but I don't know the max speed.

Hi djtof, knowing that the maximum RPM of the BB115 is 5000 and guessing that the gear ratio is 1.91:1 (you have to check that, but it´s the most common ratio on these engines, IF you have the most common drive), a calculation on a site linked to by Lars in a previous thread says you should go for size 14.5" diam.X 11.5" pitch on a 3-blade propeller, 1" less diameter on a 4-blade. If your engines really deliver 115 hp each and if the gear ratio is 1.91:1 your estimated topspeed will be 18.5 knots (35 km/h). It sounds reasonable to me but, like Lars says, it´s tricky. If I were you I´d make a close inspection of the engines, especially considering the heavy overload they have suffered from the present props. The BB115 and 130 are sturdy and reliable engines if taken care of properly, but pretty thirsty. If your engines are equipped with the old single Solex carburettor you can save some serious money by changing them to new ones, like the Weber-model that´s made just for the Volvo B20 block. In fact you will lower the fuelconsumption and gain some power at the same time.

All parts was painted with red, and number are not visible.
Someone know the place of reference? on inverser and engine?
Because I need to know the ratio.
Or maybe you know another solution to find the good ratio.
It's a Borg Warner.
The last days, I lose a proppeler, the smaller. It's not fun, and I don't know how it's happend.
Now I have only the big one.
I will try to unmount from the boat.

OK, Borg Warner drives, then forget my guess about the gear ratio beeing 1.91:1. Try to scrape the colour off the ID-plate located on the right side of the drive to find the ratio and serial nr. Nightmare to loose a propeller like that...get the boat out of the water and fix everything from scratch, check the engines, find out about the gear ratio, check if the shafts are straight or bent and change propellers.

I didn't have time to work a long time on the boat, but I did some modification and found information.
My enging is BB115B Volvo Penta
My drive is Borg Warner
Right drive is 1,91:1
Left drive is 2,10:1
Yesterday, with a friend we did a modification. We changed the last prop from drive.
The propellers were mounted upside down.
After some research, I found this:
Drive 2,10:1 it's 15"x13" prop
Drive 1,91:1 it's 14"x12" prop
So the smaller propeller is lost. We need to buy a new one.
After changed the prop, we did a test with the boat, and the left engine run perfectly, so it's the good prop.
Now I need to find nuts and prop
